About

I'm So Sovanrotha, a software engineer based in Cambodia.

My professional background is in building software for the financial industry. I work primarily on backend systems for banking and fintech, where reliability, security, and real-world business requirements matter as much as the technology itself.

I've worked on internet banking, payment and money transfer systems, financial integrations, and the backend infrastructure that supports them. Working in this space has given me a close view of how technology operates inside financial institutions and how software can reshape the way businesses work.

Beyond Software

Technology is where my career began, but it isn't where my interests end.

I'm interested in building businesses, understanding how economies and societies develop, and exploring the relationship between technology and the world around it. I want to build things that are useful, create opportunities, and have an impact beyond a single piece of software.

I don't see my career as something that needs to stay within one title or one industry. I intend to keep expanding what I build, what I learn, and the role I play.

Writing

This website is where I write about the things I'm interested in and the ideas I'm working through.

Technology and engineering will naturally be part of it, but so will business, Cambodia, history, society, politics, and other subjects worth thinking about.

My views will change as I learn and experience more. I want the writing to reflect that process rather than present a carefully constructed image of someone who already has everything figured out.

For more on why I created this archive, read Why I'm Creating This Website.

Cambodia

I'm building my career from Cambodia, and that perspective matters to me.

Cambodia has its own history, challenges, opportunities, and direction. I want to understand them on their own terms rather than simply viewing the country through ideas developed for larger and very different markets.

Technology and business are only part of that. I'm equally interested in Cambodia's history, society, economy, and future.

Looking Forward

I want to build things that matter, take on increasingly meaningful challenges, and contribute beyond the boundaries of my profession.

The work will define what comes next.

This website is where I intend to document it.
